Le Socle is gaining momentum. In this year of 2026, our mission to accelerate the development of artists and artisans in the region is taking on a new dimension. It is with immense pride and overflowing enthusiasm that we announce the arrival of a major creative force within our team: Charlotte Beaudin, who will assume the position of Art Director this coming March.
Supporting creators involves more than just administrative advice; it requires vision, aesthetic sensitivity, and, above all, a deep understanding of the reality on the ground. This is precisely what Charlotte brings to our organization. Her journey, marked by academic excellence, entrepreneurial boldness, and a meaningful return to her roots, makes her the ideal person to guide the visual and strategic identity of our members.
From Theory to Practice: A Multidisciplinary Journey
Charlotte is no stranger to the world of imagery. Her academic background is as rich as it is varied. Having studied Cinema, as well as Design and Visual Presentation, she possesses a technical mastery of the image and an innate understanding of visual storytelling. She knows how to tell a story, how to stage a product, and how to captivate an audience through design.
However, it is her life path that gives true meaning to her new role. After refining her eye in Montreal, Charlotte made a choice of both heart and reason in 2020: to return to Saint-Jean-Port-Joli.
This return to the region, settling in the cultural bastion that is our municipality, demonstrates her attachment to our community and her desire to contribute to the local artistic boom.
The Entrepreneurial Adventure: The Genesis of Atelier Bâtard
What sets Charlotte apart, and what will make her an invaluable asset to the members of Le Socle, is that she is a seasoned entrepreneur herself. She knows the challenges, the doubts, and the victories associated with launching a creative business.
In 2020, amidst global upheaval, Charlotte and her partner, the talented illustrator Eric Alexandre Ross, founded Atelier Bâtard. This project was not just a business, but the meeting point of two artistic universes.
Atelier Bâtard quickly established itself through its originality. An artistic project led by two passionate illustrators, the studio has evolved and reinvented itself, proving the adaptability of its founders. Recently, the company took a bold, eco-responsible turn that resonates with current values: upcycling.
"Art should not only be beautiful; it must be conscious."
Charlotte and Eric began using recycled clothing as canvases for their prints, transforming second-hand fashion into unique collector's pieces.
They apply this same philosophy to everyday objects, such as recycled glasses, giving them a second, vibrant, and artistic life. This concrete experience in product management, sustainable production, and marketing is a goldmine for the artists Le Socle supports.
The "Bâtard" Philosophy: An Identity of Strength
The story behind her company's name says a lot about Charlotte's vision. The name "Atelier Bâtard" originates from their dog, Olive, a dog of no defined breed—a true "bâtard" (mongrel/mutt).

Where some might see a lack of pedigree, Charlotte sees infinite richness. For her, being "bâtard" means being the fruit of multiple origins; it means being filled with diverse stories that intersect to form a unique and resilient whole.
She intends to infuse this philosophy into her role at Le Socle. She firmly believes that the mixing of ideas, the crossing of disciplines, and the diversity of backgrounds are strengths. In an art world where people often try to fit into boxes, Charlotte invites us to celebrate hybridity and raw authenticity. It is this inclusive and historically rich approach that she will bring to the art direction of our accelerator.
A Promising Future for Le Socle
As Art Director, Charlotte Beaudin's mandate will be to supervise the visual identity of Le Socle, but also to act as a mentor and advisor to our cohorts of artists. Her artistic "flair," sharpened by years of design and creation, will allow her to detect the hidden potential in every project.
Her entrepreneurial experience with Atelier Bâtard will serve as a bridge between pure creativity and market reality. She knows how to transform an illustration into a product, how to add value to used items to make something new, and how to build a strong brand with an authentic story.
The Le Socle team is convinced that Charlotte's creativity, combined with her entrepreneurial pragmatism, will propel our actions to new heights. Her arrival marks a key step in our development, strengthening our ability to offer relevant, modern, and inspiring support.
Join Us in Welcoming Her
Charlotte officially takes office in March 2026. Until then, we invite you to discover her universe and prepare to collaborate with a woman of both head and heart, who has chosen to put her talent at the service of our artistic community.
We can't wait to see the colors she will bring to our organization and, by extension, to your projects.
