AI meets heritage: We challenged Gemini, ChatGPT and Claude! (just a challenge...)

Le Socle enjoys exploring how technology can serve (or entertain!) artists and craftspeople. Recently, we asked ourselves a simple question: how does artificial intelligence "see" our local heritage?
For this little test, we chose an essential icon of our region: The Goddess of the Sea of Saint-Jean-Port-Joli.
We presented the same challenge to three of the leading artificial intelligences of the moment:
Gemini (Google), ChatGPT (OpenAI) et Claude (Anthropic).
The instruction (The "Prompt")
To ensure a fair game, we didn't cheat. No complex descriptions, no technical tweaks. We gave all three robots the exact same raw command:
"Here is the sculpture: The Sea Goddess of Saint Jean Port Jolie. Can you create a painting for me with the goddess as your muse, with the Saint-Jean-Port-Joli region as its theme? Just an image, not a text."
This is what is called a level 1 "prompt". It's simple, direct, and we let the AI interpret the rest.
The Results
Here's what our three "digital artists" came up with in just a few seconds.
Result suggested by Gemini
Result provided by ChatGPT
Result proposed by Claude (???)

Key takeaways
Basically, what we realize is that (apart from Claude), the result is simple and rather classic, even weak.
But the most important point is this: this is only a first draft.
If we limit ourselves to a simple order, we often get a generic result, sometimes a bit cliché, or one that lacks the true soul of the place.
This is where your role as an artist or craftsman remains central. AI is not a replacement, it is an aid.
Here is an image by GEMINI with a second request: "improve and make it more artistic..."
This test proves that in a single sentence, technology is capable of much, but it still needs human sensitivity to truly capture the essence of our Sea Goddess!
